RuPay Contactless NCMC Debit Card FAQs

What is NCMC?

The RuPay National Common Mobility Card is a Contactless Debit Card. A single card that can be used for making all kinds of payments and also tap & travel across various modes of transport, including buses, trains, metros, and even toll payments

How to add money to the Offline Wallet?

Customer can add money to their NCMC offline wallet using cash or account debit as payment mode at designated transit terminals.

Cash reload: A customer can reload the Card balance by paying cash to an authorised merchant/ operator who will then carry out the reload transaction, referred to MoneyAdd on the RuPay Contactless NCMC Debit Card.

Account re-load: A customer can reload the Card balance through debit from his/ her Savings Account at an authorised NCMC terminal using the RuPay Contactless NCMC Debit Card.

How much balance I can load In the card?

A Cardholder can load the offline wallet (top-up the card balance) with the maximum value set by the Bank, subject to change without prior notice. Currently, the maximum offline wallet balance is ₹ 2000.

How to enquire the balance on the Offline Wallet?

Customer can enquire the wallet balance on card by tapping the card on Kiosk available at designated transit terminals or enquire with transit terminal operators.

How to update the Balance on the Offline Wallet?

Customer can update the wallet balance on card by tapping the card on Kiosk available at designated transit terminals or enquire with transit terminal operators for balance updation.

How to spend the money via Offline Wallet?

Customer can use his/her offline wallet to purchase ticket by tapping the card at transit terminal or by tapping it at entry and exit gate of metro stations.

How to Block the Offline Wallet?

Offline wallet cannot be blocked.

How the offline wallet balance can be transferred in case of Card Closure/damage/replacement?

Existing services and balances cannot be transferred or claimed from old card to new card. Customers must exhaust these balances.

If one can get Interest on offline Wallet Balance?

Please note, Cardholder will not get any interest on offline wallet balance as it is being treated as prepaid payment instrument.
