BHIM App - How to Use BHIM UPI Payments App

When India went digital post demonetization, the payment system gradually went away from cash towards cashless systems. One of the most popular forms of payment today is via the Unified Payments Interface or UPI. Using UPI, one can send or receive money, request money, pay bills and do so much more. Millions of Indians use UPI payment apps for their transactions today. The BHIM UPI App is one such app that was developed by the National Payments Corporation of India.

What is BHIM UPI App?

The BHIM UPI payment app developed by the National Payments Corporation of India to promote digital payments via the UPI payment model. It is available both as an Android as well as an iOS app. It can be used to perform all UPI related transactions like making payments, receiving payments, paying bills etc. 

How To Install and Set Up The BHIM UPI App

Installing and setting up the BHIM UPI App on your smartphone is a breezy process. You can do so by following the steps given below:

Step 1: Download and install the BHIM UPI app from the Android Play Store or the Apple App Store.

Step 2: Once installed, launch the BHIM UPI app.

Step 3: Select your preferred language.

Step 4: Select the SIM card with the mobile number linked to your bank account.

Step 5: Set your login by setting a 4-digit password.

Step 6: The app will fetch bank accounts linked to your mobile number. Choose your desired bank account. 

Step 7: Set your UPI PIN by providing the last 6 digits and expiry date of your debit card.

Step 8: Your account is now set up and ready to use. You can use it to send and receive money via the BHIM UPI app. 

How To Use BHIM UPI App

Once your BHIM UPI app is installed, you can use it in the following ways to perform your UPI transactions:

1. Send Money

To make aBHIM UPI paymentvia the BHIM UPI app, first launch the app and select the ‘Send’ option on the dashboard. On the next page, you can search for a contact on your phone or enter a UPI ID to send money to. Enter the amount and proceed. Enter your UPI PIN, and the amount will be debited from your account, and the beneficiary UPI ID linked account will be credited. 

2. Send Money By Scanning QR Code

You can also use the BHIM UPI to make payments using QR codes at outlets. Choose the ‘Scan’ option on the dashboard, and the QR code scanner will open up. Scan the code, and you can make your payment by entering the amount. 

3. Request Money

You can also request money using the BHIM UPI app by entering the UPI ID of the person from whom you expect payment. Click on ‘Request Money’ on the Dashboard and proceed to fill out the UPI ID and amount. The concerned person will receive a notification on their BHIM UPI app to make the payment. 

In this way, you can use the BHIM UPI app for your UPI transactions. Additionally, you can also use the BHIM portal via ICICI Bank’s iMobile Pay app to send or receive money.
